Munthe's Hildasholm offers its own distinctive character among Leksand's many attractions.
Walking into Hildasholm is like entering another world. Here the Swedish, English or Continental 17th, 18th and 19th centuries can be relived, the wingbeats of history be felt, and acquaintances made with fantastic stories about people and happenings in yesterday's Europe.
Here one can have a close-hand look at the art and handicrafts, Swedish and foreign, which have been collected and brought to Hildasholm during the first part of the 20th century.
Hildasholm's gardens, planned and constructed by Hilda Munthe during the 1910's and 20's, offer the visitors of today both astounding beauty and pleasant surprises. It's easy to lose all track of time in the midst of the gardens...
