weekend July 31 - August 2

The four day workshops start on Sunday at 10 am and includes 24 instructing hours.
Watercolour painting or "The medium of watercolour" always has been considered especially British. Here at Hildasholm we want, led by Jan Thunholm, to associate to English tradition. Watercolour is an ideal medium for painting landscape out-of-doors, and Hildasholm’s British athmosphere serves us many picturesque views which give inspiration to be influenced by the work of English watercolourists like Thomas Girtin, Constable or Turner. Of course we shall have great expectations but more important than to be a new Turner is to develop our own abilities. Hildasholm's courses in watercolour painting is created for both adults and youngsters, for amateurs and advanced students. The training program includes studying Hilda Munthe’s beautiful gardens, the changing skies, old houses, trees and other sights.
The group, maximum 10 persons, gather in one of the gardens and the master gives formal instructions about watercolour materials and technique. We talk about the meaning of realism, technique and knowledge of colour mostly from British pattern, but we shall not forget the Swedish masters Egron Lundgren (member of Old Watercolour Society in London), Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson. During Saturday and Sunday the participants may work till Hildasholm's closing time at 6 pm. The course is as you have noticed in a traditional style - but this does not exclude that we use our modern eyes and our own experiences when we honour masters of old times.
Tuition for a week-end course is 550 SEK, for four days 750 SEK . You pay cash at the reception on Friday/Sunday. Please bring your own material like watercolour paper, watercolours, brushes, pencils, eraser and other things you may use. Some basic material is sold in the museum shop.
