The Architecture and the Interior

The estate, which consists of a main building and two smaller wings, was designed by the architect Torben Grut, who earlier had designed among other things Solliden on Öland for Queen Viktoria and somewhat later Stockholm's Stadium (Stadion).

The actual construction was entrusted to the parish building contractor Hallman's Per Karlsson from Tibble in Leksand.

Axel and Hilda Munthe brought many of their favorite possessions to Hildasholm, which make a tour of the house today a veritable lesson in the history of European art and culture.
